60 Minutes with Shakespeare PDF Print E-mail
The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has launched a new web-based project,60 Minutes with Shakespeare: Who Was William Shakespeare? Sixty people, among them Stephen Fry, Margaret Drabble, Gregory Doran, Stanley Wells and Harriet Walter, have contributed a 60-second recording answering one of 60 questions about Shakespeare's authorship. The website aims to put to rest arguments about Shakespeare's authorship, particularly in the wake of the film Anonymous which will give a high profile to conspiracy theorists. Of course, the BSA fully supports this project, and many of its members (including two Trustees), are among the 60 voices.

Ian Martin PDF Print E-mail

We are very sorry to have to announce that one of our Board of Trustees, Ian Martin, recently passed away after a short illness. Ian was a longstanding member of the BSA and was a member of the original executive committee. In 2008, Ian was elected onto the Board of Trustees and in that capacity contributed greatly to the BSA's development. He will be very much missed by those of us privileged to work with him directly and benefit from his knowledge and experience. An obituary has been published at

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the BSA Events Committee, we are delighted to announce that the 5th Biennial British Shakespeare Association conference will take place at Lancaster University on 24th-26th February 2012. Building on the success of our previous conferences at King's College, Warwick, Newcastle and De Monfort, this conference will provide an opportunity for Shakespeareans from a variety of backgrounds to come together and discuss their work. By moving the conference date to February, we are also able to celebrate the BSA's 10th birthday. We very much look forward to working with Professor Alison Findlay and her team at the University of Lancaster on this major event for the British Shakespeare Association.
